One of the most fun ways to get a peek into another person’s life is to experience their city like a local would -- with a homebase in a their space. LifeSwap takes the fun of living how a stranger does one step further. We’ve teamed up with AirBnB to give you a taste of what it’s like to step into someone else’s shoes. We can safely say that this is the best giveaway of any SXSW party around.
Headlining this year's B4P is Little Hurricane, an American rock and blues band based out of San Diego, California. Formed in 2010, the band consists of frontman Anthony "Tone" Catalano and drummer Celeste "C.C" Spina. They are a male/female duo with minimalist blues approach to a rocking, indie sound. Influences include Van Morrison, Dead Weather, Gorillaz, James Taylor, Paul Simon, and The Beatles.Â
Little Hurricane has performed in major festivals, including Austin City Limits Music Festival, Telluride Blues and Brews, Parkenfestivalen, Summerfest, Lollapalooza, and South by Southwest. Their performances have been featured in leading publications such as Rolling Stone. Â
The band is the sultry rock noir child of Paige Wood and Steven Dies. Formed in California the band draws heavily from their roots, Paige from the velvet tongued doo-wop, soul, and jazz singers she emulated growing up in Texas, and Steven from the gritty buzz of heavy riffs his guitar idols were playing just down the Sunset Strip in Hollywood. Together they have aggregated their influences and landed between genres, citing inspiration from artists like PJ Harvey, Nancy Sinatra, The Cramps, Lee Hazelwood, Lou Reed, Iggy Pop, Led Zeppelin, DEVO, and Portishead. The Peach Kings have hit a sweet spot between the polish and the dirt, the glide and the swagger. Â
Come thirsty and bring your funkiest dancing shoes. There will be an open bar for the first few hours of the show, killer live performances, and a community of amazing people ready to let loose.Â
This event is 21+ only and IDs will be checked at the door. Parking is limited, so we recommend public transportation or ride sharing.
Blues for Pops is an annual benefit concert celebrating life, love, and music for all of us who have lost a loved one or been affected by cancer. 100% of ticket sales are donated to the American Cancer Society and will go towards cancer research, patient services, early detection, treatment, and education.Â
Blues for Pops is an original jam written and performed by Jeffrey S. Walker, a skilled guitarist, music aficionado, and tech industry titan who lost his five year battle to cancer in 2009 at the young age of 59. His children keep him alive by celebrating his passions - among them loud music and stiff martinis.Â
